Sthephan G. Stephansson Poetry
SAILING TO AMERICA
Onward it glides, the ocean's steed,
along the path of open seas –
a glimpse of Helluland ahead
in the dusk's blue haze.
The continent distance had concealed
is marshalling itself.
In the morning sun will be revealed
Markland's wooded shelf.
What joy upon the horse of lees
to behold those ancient lands:
tacking a ship off Kjalarnes,
rounding the Wonderstrands!
